Frequently Asked Questions
How do I add GST to an amount?+
Multiply the base (net) amount by (1 + GST rate ÷ 100). For example, ₹1,000 at 18% becomes ₹1,000 × 1.18 = ₹1,180, of which ₹180 is GST. Select 'Add GST' mode and the tool does it instantly.
How do I remove GST from a total price?+
Divide the GST-inclusive amount by (1 + GST rate ÷ 100). For ₹1,180 at 18%, the base is ₹1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000 and the GST portion is ₹180. Choose 'Remove GST' mode to reverse-calculate automatically.
What is the difference between GST-inclusive and GST-exclusive prices?+
A GST-exclusive (net) price does not include tax — GST is added on top. A GST-inclusive (gross) price already contains the tax, so removing GST reveals the underlying base price.
What GST rates can I use?+
You can enter any rate. The common Indian GST slabs are 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, with 0% for exempt goods.
